Machu Picchu was not a summer home for the Incans but an administrative center between the jungle and the Andes. It was abandoned because of disease and problems with the jungle and they felt the Gods were did not want them there anymore as evidenced from all the problems they had.
Incan stone put together with no mortar. Still standing and functioning waterfalls. We have a “stone mason with us and he said with today’s technology this is nearly impossible.
after visiting Machu Picchu we had extra time so we traded our bus tickets and walked down 1.5 hours to the train. There was a pretty nice trail for us and the locals.
I have had swollen legs. Our guide said my kidneys are not doing their proper job here at 11-12000 feet. usually you can see my two ankle bones. I know…..ugly!

Looking at those legs makes me glad I'm not there! I'm jealous of the nice weather, though!
